Hand in Hand is both our name and our approach.

Christina and Ally, your celebrants, on a Perth beach

We're vibrant, empathetic and know how to bring the right energy into a moment, whether that's light, fun, or meaningful.

Christina met Ally while searching for a celebrant for her own wedding. That connection blossomed into a friendship as the two worked together on Christina's big day. Working on the wedding as a team brought together two different personalities in a way that just worked, and the idea of Hand in Hand took root following the honeymoon, of course!

We run this together. While you might only get to know one of us closely, we work together behind the scenes to make sure everything is perfect for your special day. We're here to guide you through it all with care and clarity, so your experience feels easy, supported and exciting.

We offer ceremonies in English, German, or a mix of both, so everyone feels included, no matter where they're from.

Heiraten in Australien 🇦🇺

Planning an Australian wedding while keeping the language, traditions and feeling of home? We can make the legal Australian ceremony and the personal German or bilingual celebration work hand in hand.

We help German-speaking couples understand the Australian marriage process, from the NOIM and identification documents through to witnesses and what happens after the ceremony.

Your ceremony itself can feel completely like you. We can include German traditions such as Baumstamm sägen, bilingual vows, family readings, handfasting or another meaningful ritual, without making it feel forced or staged.

Travelling as just the two of you? We can also help with practical details such as arranging witnesses. And whether you are dreaming of Perth, the Swan Valley, Yallingup, Dunsborough or Margaret River, we are happy to talk through the location with you.

The essentials

  • The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be lodged at least one month before the wedding.
  • You will need identification and supporting documents. We explain what applies to your circumstances.
  • You do not need to be Australian citizens to marry in Australia.
  • If you need documents for use in Germany, we can explain the usual next steps and point you to the relevant authorities.

For legal weddings: proof of age, photo ID, and if you've been married before, the relevant divorce or death certificate. We'll walk you through exactly what's needed.

It's the main bit of paperwork. It must be lodged at least one month before your wedding and is valid for up to 18 months. We fill it out together.

Not at all. You can get married in Australia whether you're a citizen, visiting from overseas, or planning a destination wedding.

Yes. We work across Perth and Western Australia, including the Swan Valley, Fremantle, Yallingup, Dunsborough, Margaret River and further afield. Ask us about your location.

That's the whole idea. We get to know you both, then craft a personalised ceremony around your story in English, German, or a mix of both.

After your vows, we sign the required documents with your two adult witnesses. You'll receive a ceremonial certificate on the day.

We lodge your marriage with the registry within 14 days. If you need an official government certificate, we'll point you in the right direction.

We have a Plan B, and a Plan C if needed. We'll stay flexible and keep things stress-free.
