German weddings in Western Australia
Planning a wedding in Australia as a German-speaking couple can feel like two worlds of paperwork, language and tradition. We bring those worlds together: the Australian legal process, a ceremony that sounds like you, and practical support from the first conversation to the day itself.
Can German couples marry in Australia?
Australia allows couples from overseas to marry here, provided the legal requirements are met. The key first step is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM), which must generally be given to an authorised marriage celebrant at least one month and no more than 18 months before the wedding.
We help you understand what documents are needed for your circumstances, how witnesses work, and what happens before and after the ceremony. If you are still in Germany when you start planning, much of the preparation can begin before you arrive.

The process
We keep the legal steps clear and the personal part personal.
We talk about your date, location, language, style and whether you are travelling from overseas.
We guide you through the notice requirements and timing so the paperwork does not become the stressful part of the wedding.
We confirm the identification and supporting documents required and make sure two adult witnesses are arranged for the ceremony.
German, English or bilingual: we shape the story, vows, readings and traditions around you while taking care of the Australian legal requirements.
On the day, we guide the ceremony, complete the legal documents and make sure the moment still feels relaxed and genuinely yours.
We lodge the marriage with the relevant Australian registry. If you need the marriage documents for Germany, the official registry-issued certificate is the important next step, rather than only the celebrant certificate.
After the wedding
After a celebrant wedding, the ceremonial certificate you sign on the day is not the same as the official marriage certificate issued by the state Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. German authorities generally require the official registry-issued certificate for official use.
German authorities may also ask for an Apostille depending on what you are using the document for. Registration of an overseas marriage in the German marriage register is possible but is not generally compulsory. Requirements can vary, so we always recommend confirming the current position with the relevant German authority.
